Gilyan Noble lives in the Scottish Highlands in a small coastal town with an ancient fishing port. Working from her home studio the scenic views and abundance of wildlife provide a constant source of inspiration.
Her love of nature is evident throughout her work. Through sculpture and painting Gilyan explores the private world of fish, fowl and other creatures.
Drawn to their imperfections and vulnerabilities, Gilyan tries to capture their specific traits in her work.
Having worked for many years with oils she now spends most of her time working in mixed media where she uses metal, wood, plaster and other materials to create texture which is apparent in all of her pieces.
Gilyan shares her home and often her studio with her husband and two Shih Tzu dogs.
Gilyan has exhibited at Inchmore Gallery, Beauly Gallery, and the Strathpeffer Pavillion. At annual exhibitions including the Art Society of Inverness, Phipps Hall, Beauly, Kyle of Sutherland and at other Highland events.
